Family Navigation: Season 5: Fall (Week 1) | Season 6: Winter (Week 1)

Hello and welcome back to Week 2 of the Petal family. I had some real life things going on, including replacing my computer so I am sorry it has taken me SO LONG to get this post out. Hopefully I will be able to have a bit of consistent posting now, but we’ll see what life brings. Last week with the family we started fall and Girasol grew up, graduated, and moved out. Solros was announced as the heir for generation 2, and we spent a lot of time with Lara’s family. Let’s dig into Week 2!

We start week 2 with all the current family members living here hanging out around the table. Rosa was eating, but everyone else was just chatting out and of course at least one of them, in this case, Lara, was in their outerwear. That is one thing I would love to no longer have happening all the time.

A bit later they all move from the table and Rosa works on some articles for her career and Solros and Aster start dancing. Lara finally takes some time to eat on the couch while the brothers become joksters, which no one is surprised about at this point.

Lara’s father, Jackson, stops by the house to hang out for a bit. Not only does he cook some food, pretty sure it was another cake, he cleans up our bathroom sink, which had gotten pretty messy. The family is very grateful to Jackson for the help. Once all that is done it’s time to hang out with his grandsons.

The family does spend time in other areas of the house, but the kitchen/living room/dining room being mostly one room does mean they spend the majority of time here. The next morning Aster pulled some silly behavior on his mom and she decided she liked it.

School for Solros is going well. He attends his classes (with many of the other playables in his class), works out sometimes at lunch, and enjoyed talking to the presenters at career day. I miss seeing some of my playable people as the presenters, but hopefully we’ll get more someday.

I don’t know what happened in the cafeteria though, the kids left it a MESS in there. Poor janitor. It must have been a rough day for them that day.

I very rarely let my mischievous students do a lot of mischief, which I need to change. Solros may not be mischievous specifically, but he is outgoing and was a social butterfly. I feel like he would be “cool” in school, and thus I let him try the pencil trick, and he pulled it off. I actually remember kids doing things like this in my school, so it was kind of fun.

Aster found himself with a new loose tooth. He wiggled it around for a while and I honestly don’t remember what happened. I apparently never took a picture of the aftermath, or what he got from the tooth fairy.

Much to everyone’s delight Girasol visited, and I had Solros give her a key to the house so she can come by his place whenever she wants after he moves. While she was there I attempted to give her the diploma I forgot to make sure she had when she moved out and was unable to since it’s a family inventory item.

Our boys all hang out together around the table with Aster working on his homework. I haven’t decided where to have Solros live eventually. He will stay at home until we can officially get Rosa to the top of her career, the final goal for this first generation.

Gino Sheff, from our My Sheff Sims challenge gives Lara a call and asks about going on a date with someone he met. I suppose he might be lonely since he lost his husband last round. We told him to go for it. Then Aster discovered he enjoys video gaming. Same kid, same.

Rosa needed some more article fodder, so we took her down to the local rec center and had her meet and talk with all kinds of people who were there. She got multiple story ideas and will hopefully get another promotion soon.

Gnomes can only mean one thing. It’s Harvestfest!! Happy Harvestfest Petal’s. Rosa whips up a grand breakfast which the family enjoys mostly in their PJs. Rosa and Lara then get in a bit of romance before the family gets ready to head out for the day.

First up for the family is volunteering at the soup kitchen. Lara, I believe, had the wish to volunteer with the family, and what better day than Harvestfest. Aster got a chance card and he is a budding chef already it seems!

Once they were done at the soup kitchen the family heads over to Lara’s parents. Also at the house were Alessandro and his wife Olive. While there, however, a fire started in the upstairs bedroom. It caused a lot of issues and the family got stuck on the lot because the fire went behind the wall and I had to do some demolition to get it all so we could head home.

After a rather exciting end to Harvestfest Lara and Rosa decide the next day should be a simple date night. They head out to see a movie at the theater in San Sequoia. I so rarely send my sims to the movies there, something I want to start doing if I can.

It’s Friday night, so that means a trip to the teen hangout in town with a bunch of the teens. Girasol and a few other adults from the hood are also around, and I need to edit this lot a bit but Solros and the kids have fun dancing the night away.

After he gets home Aster convinces Solros pranks may not be so bad. He executed a well-timed prank against his brother, and Solros couldn’t help by like it.

Saturday morning Rosa is up early whipping up a breakfast for the family. Once Solros gets up he enjoys his mom’s breakfast while Aster is asking his mom to spend the morning at the arcade with friends.

She agreed and Aster, Jimmy Keet, and a girl I cannot remember the name of now, all head to the arcade. There they play some foosball before moving to the big gaming machine. Before too long it was time for all of them to go home.

After a fun morning/early afternoon with his friends Aster comes home and Solros helps him with learning to ride his bike. He has to learn for his aspiration, so it’s good Solros can help.

Eventually, though Solros has to get ready and head to the prom where he danced with Cahyono throughout the night. These two have never been an item before, but when Solros showed up to prom and walked inside we got this notification.

So of course we had to spend our last prom with the guy. Sadly, since Solros is graduating soon, he will not be able to become Solros’ first boyfriend. That would have been a good start to the new generation’s goals.

The royalty was announced and to our surprise, Solros managed to make Prom King. Good job Solros! Kendall Keet once again won jester.

Solros headed to after prom at the warf and rode the ferris wheel with his crush. Nothing special happened, and afterward Solros hung out with Nadia and ate a bit of food before heading home.

Sadly, because I can be totally oblivious to timing, Solros came home and aged up into a YA with no cake or fanfare. Sorry Solros! He did, however, graduate with honors!

The next morning once Rosa was awake she gave her son a big birthday hug and joked around with him in the bathroom. Never change sims, #simlogic, #bathroomsaretheplacetobe. All this interaction gave Rosa and Solros the Close dynamic, which I loved seeing.

Solros spends the rest of the morning helping Aster learn to ride his bike. What a good big brother he is!

This was the final piece needed for Aster to finish up the Playtime Captain aspiration. Good thing because it’s his birthday today! We gave him Mind and Body next, but no work will be done on that.

Grandma Mirabel and another friend of Solros are the first to arrive for the party. Rosa is busy working on a cake for her youngest son.

All of Lara’s family was invited over, and most of them came, as did a couple of other friends from the neighborhood. Aster eventually blew out his candles and became a teen. We will see his makeover later. He ended up with Snob and Beach Life for his newest trait and teen aspiration.

During the party, Aster tells Rosa a story and she just can’t get enough. Rosa, you are a journalist, how didn’t you know you like stories yet?

The season is almost over, and Lara and Rosa take the time to be together. Now with the kids all grown up, Aster still being a young teen, but much more able to take care of himself, Rosa is hoping to be able to buckle down and get some more promotions. Lara would like to head back to the jungle himself.

Aster’s first day of school, and I forgot Solros graduated already, so I called him into school when he didn’t show up. Since he obviously didn’t need to attend class we worked out a bit and decided with all he’s been doing he considers himself Active now. This makes sense, so we say yes.

Wouldn’t you know it, Aster’s first day and there is a fire drill already. Luckily it’s just a drill and the rest of the school day goes without incident.

Rosa comes home that evening with a promotion, which means she has 2 left, I believe, to finish her career. That means, while we will follow Solros more actively next season we won’t be moving out until Rosa finishes up her career. We might have Solros try some classes at home next season, we will see.

That wraps up the fall for the Petal’s, and next we head over to the Williams’ family to see how they are doing. I hope to see you over there soon!!
